Marketing no longer picks tools. It governs agents. And are Italian companies ready?

Marketing no longer asks which tool to add to the stack. It asks how to make AI operate inside the organization in a scalable and responsible way.

Agentic AI workflow applied to corporate marketing processes

There's a sentence in the Snowflake 2026 report, quoted by ImpresaCity on July 2, worth reading carefully:

"The most advanced marketing organizations don't ask which tool to add to the stack. They ask how to make AI operate within the existing organization in a scalable, reliable and responsible way."

It isn't a subtle distinction. It's a paradigm shift.

From collecting tools to governing agents

Over the past three years, companies have accumulated AI tools: text generators, email assistants, image tools, website chatbots. Every department has its own stack, often with no central coordination.

The Snowflake report captures the next step: the most mature organizations don't add tools, they design agentic workflows. Systems that don't assist with a single task, but carry out sequences of actions autonomously, make micro-decisions, coordinate other systems.

The difference isn't technical. It's organizational and strategic.

A tool responds to a command. An AI agent manages a process.

Media Engineering's point of view

This is exactly the leap we're seeing in our most advanced clients.

They no longer ask us "how do I use AI to write copy faster". They ask "how do I integrate an AI agent into the onboarding flow for new medical reps" or "how do I get my AI avatar to handle post-congress FAQs without the team stepping in".

These are process questions, not technology questions.

And the answer requires a different skill set from simply implementing a tool: you need to understand the existing process, identify where the agent can operate autonomously, define the boundaries of governance, ensure regulatory compliance.

At Media Engineering we've built this competence by working on real cases, in pharma, in retail, in public administration. We don't sell software: we design the process together with the client.

What it means for those not yet up to speed

The report also says something else important: most organizations are still behind. They buy tools, they don't redesign the way they work.

This creates a window of opportunity, and a risk.

Those who start reasoning in terms of agentic workflows now will have a real competitive advantage over the next 12-18 months. Those who wait for the market to settle will find a gap that's hard to close, not because the technology is inaccessible, but because the advantage lies in the operational experience accumulated, not in the tool used.

AI doesn't wait for everyone to be ready.

The first concrete step

You don't need to redesign everything at once. The most effective way to start is to identify a repetitive, high-volume process, customer service, training, lead qualification, and design a specific AI agent for it.

The outcome of the first project becomes the foundation for the second. And so on.
